Transportation should not be a roadblock to health. For many families on our island, getting to and from vital medical appointments is a significant hurdle. High public transportation costs and limited service disproportionately affect low-income families, often preventing children from receiving timely medical care or continuing essential treatments. This challenge extends to families of hospitalized children and those traveling from our sister islands, who also struggle to reach the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC). A recent study by Ronald McDonald House Curaçao, in collaboration with the Neonatal Department at the Curaçao Medical Center, confirmed that transportation is the highest unmet need among families.
Timely Appointments: Ensure children are transported safely and on time to their outpatient appointments. This prevents missed visits, ensures continuity of care, and ultimately leads to more optimal health outcomes for children in our community.
Family Proximity: Facilitate consistent family visits for children admitted to the pediatric department at the Curaçao Medical Center. Our transportation service will help families stay close to their sick infants and children, fostering a healing environment.
